- Course Duration and Deadlines
- Master’s Degree: Recommended duration is 24 months, but an extension of up to 3 months may be requested, reaching a strict limit of 27 months.
- Doctoral Degree (PhD): Standard duration is 48 months. Students may request an extension of up to 6 months.
- 2. Credit Requirements
- Master’s Degree: Completion of at least 32 credits, including 6 credits for the thesis.
- Doctoral Degree (PhD): Completion of at least 60 credits, including 12 credits for the dissertation.
- Proficiency and Qualifying Examinations
- English Proficiency: Mandatory for all students. Master’s students must obtain proficiency in their year of admission. Doctoral students must submit proof of proficiency by the end of their second year.
- Qualifying Examination: A mandatory milestone for both levels. For PhD candidates, this must be completed by the third year and at least 6 months prior to the final defense.
- Scientific Production (Defense Requirements)
- Master’s Students: Proof of at least one (1) submitted article in a journal in the Medicine II field.
- Doctoral Students: Proof of one (1) accepted article and one (1) submitted article in the Medicine II field.
- Defense and Graduation
- Defense Attendance: Students must attend at least 5 thesis or dissertation defenses.
- Public Notice: Defenses must be officially announced at least 7 days in advance.
- Final Repository Deposit: After approval and board-requested corrections, the final PDF version must be uploaded to the UFC Institutional Repository.
