Academic Requirements & Guidelines
PPGPATO is governed by its Internal Bylaws and Student Manuals. To maintain regular status and obtain an academic degree, students must adhere to the following regulations:
- Credits and Academic Performance
- Master’s Degree: Completion of at least 32 credits (including 6 credits for the thesis).
- Doctoral Degree (PhD): Completion of at least 60 credits (including 12 credits for the dissertation).
- Grade Point Average: Students must maintain a minimum final average grade of 0.
- Proficiency and Qualification
- English Proficiency: All students must demonstrate proficiency in English according to the program’s established deadlines.
- Qualifying Examination: A mandatory milestone for both Master’s and Doctoral candidates, which must be successfully completed prior to the final defense.
- Scientific Production (Requirements for Graduation)
- Master’s Students: Must provide proof of at least one (1) scientific article submitted for publication in the Medicine II area.
- Doctoral Students: Must provide proof of one (1) article accepted for publication and one (1) article submitted in the Medicine II area.
- Additional Obligations
- Defense Attendance: Students are required to attend at least 5 thesis/dissertation defenses during their time in the program.
- Final Repository Deposit: Upon successful defense, the final version of the thesis or dissertation (incorporating board corrections) must be uploaded to the UFC Institutional Repository in PDF format.
